Cute and Simple Shape Turkey Craft for Preschoolers

What I love most about this fun craft is how it only requires basic arts and craft supplies. Supplies most preschool moms or teachers already have, like construction paper, scissors, glue sticks, and googly eyes.

Free Shape Turkey Template

You can cut the basic shapes, the beak, and the wattle for your shape turkey craft on your own. Or, you can download this free printable template to make your turkey shape cutting super easy.

You can also use the template to make stencils with cardstock or cardboard for kids to trace and cut out their own shapes.

How to Construct Your Shape Turkey

Once you have your basic shape cutouts, help your little one bring their shape turkeys to life by gluing on beaks, wattles, and googly eyes.

This is the perfect time to name your turkeys based on their basic shape: “Circle Turkey,” “Rectangle Turkey,” and “Triangle Turkey,” for example.

Then, your preschooler will have fun gluing their turkey’s tail feathers on the back of the body. You could challenge older kids to practice shapes by matching shape feathers to each shape turkey body (i.e. triangle feathers on the “Triangle Turkey”). Or, let toddlers get creative by adding colorful paper feathers any way they would like.

This easy turkey craft is perfect for a preschool lesson on shapes during the Fall season or month of November. Or, it makes for a fun Thanksgiving craft or fun activity for the kids’ Thanksgiving dinner table.
