My Grandma always had a homemade snack — usually a sweet one — for her grandkids. I remember making gooey caramel popcorn with her one cold Winter day. The still-warm caramel melted in my mouth and paired perfectly with the crunch of the popcorn. And, I remember snacking on White Chocolate Muddy Buddies around the picnic table outside her camper one warm Summer day.
There’s just something about food and family memories. Maybe it’s the way cooking and eating trigger the senses, capturing moments in our minds just waiting to be released years later. That’s why I love making special snacks and treats for my kids during the holidays. I know this is what they will remember when they are grown.
Christmas Muddy Buddies — Easy Recipe for Holiday Memories!
One of my favorite holiday treats is an easy and yummy homemade Muddy Buddies recipe with a holiday spin: Christmas Muddy Buddy Snack Mix!
This Christmas Muddy Buddies recipe is so easy and fun to make. It’s a great recipe to have the kids help make as a holiday tradition. They can help stir and shake — and taste test!
How to Make Chex Muddy Buddies, Christmas Style:
To make Christmas Muddy Buddies, you start the same way you do for the classic homemade Muddy Buddy Mix, melting down your chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in the microwave.
When that rich chocolate mixture is all melted, stir in your vanilla extract until it’s smooth.
Then, pour the gooey goodness over your Chex cereal in a large mixing bowl and get the kids to help stir the mixture until all of the cereal is coated in the delicious chocolate.
