20 days, 16 hours, 8 minutes, and 24 seconds until the last of my 3, my sweet J.C., goes off to Kindergarten.
But who’s counting?
Okay, yes, I’m counting (and crying…).
I’m counting down these last precious summer days of pushing his swing higher and higher, wiping sidewalk chalk smudges off little hands and cheeks, and watching all three run through the sprinkler.
And lots and lots of sweet dripping Popsicles licked by colorful kids’ tongues.
These moments in the warm summer sunshine are the ones I want to freeze in time.
But those memories are so fleeting. Especially as I’m getting older – and more tired. So I’m trying to work in some more family traditions to better capture these memories – and freeze my kids’ in time a bit. Here’s one new tradition, plus a FREE printable for you to start it, too…
A FREE Summer Time Capsule Printable
I made this Summer Time Capsule Printable and plan to make filling it out a “Last Day of Summer Break” tradition with the kids.
It includes a spot for the kids to draw a picture of themselves as well as their favorite summer memory. I’ll help J.C. write in his list of Summer Favorites. Then, I think we’ll roll them up together and seal them inside in a 2-liter plastic soda bottle (cleaned-out and dry, of course).
Each “Last Day of Summer Break” we can then break open our time capsule bottle, check out last year’s answers and memories, and add new Summer Time Capsule Printables along with the old to a new bottle. Fun, right?!
Oh – and we’ll definitely be including some sweet treats in that “Last Day of Summer Break” tradition. Target makes that easy with all the Ice Cream Truck classics from Unilever. My kids can’t resist the Popsicles, but Cliff and I prefer the Klondike and Magnum bars.
Sounds like a fun and yummy way to “freeze” the last day of summer break, don’t you think?
