Have You Done These Outdoor Activities This Summer?
I seriously cannot believe that there are only four more Fridays before my kids are back to school. With my older two spending so much time at their dad’s this summer, it feels like we barely got to do anything fun together this summer. We never made a “bucket list”, but there were some specific activities I had in mind to do with them this summer. I know we can do the indoor stuff anytime, but I thought I’d better get intentional and make a list of outdoor activities I want to fit in before warm summer weather is gone. Maybe you’d like to do them with your kids, too?

6 Outdoor Activities to Fit In Before Summer’s Up
- A Nature Discovery Walk – I want to give the kids some magnifying glasses and go on an outdoor nature discovery adventure. We can fill our collection boxes we painted last year with our nature discoveries!
- Make Bird Feeders – The kids loved making these easy bird feeders last summer. I want to make some more this year and hang them for some summer bird watching.
- An Outdoor Color Hunt – I know J.C. will get a kick out of this one. I want to make one of these clever color spinners to take with us to the local park for a color hunt.
- A Mud Pie Making Party – The kids had SO much fun making real mud pies last year. I can’t wait to surprise them with another mud pie making party before summer’s up. And then we’ll make a yummy mud pie treat again, too.
- Squirt Gun Games – The kids did have some water balloon play with my parents a couple weeks ago, but we can’t let the summer go by without some squirt gun action! I think we’ll set up this Angry Birds Knock Down Game using water squirters, too.
- Sidewalk Paint – We’ve make some sidewalk art with chalk, but haven’t done any sidewalk painting yet this summer. We’re going to try this sidewalk chalk paint recipe next week.
Staying Cool Through the End of Summer
While the kids and I are outside having fun during this last (and often hottest) month of summer, I’ll be keeping cool with an iced coffee! Folgers® sent me some of their new Iced CaféTM Coffee Drink Concentrates to try, and I’m loving it!
Folgers® Iced CaféTM Coffee Drink Concentrates are a new a line of concentrated coffee, made with 100% coffee extract, just five ingredients and no sugar or preservatives, all conveniently combined in a portable 1.62 fl. oz. squeeze bottle. Just a couple squirts into an ice cold glass of milk and I’ve got a refreshing iced coffee to take outside with us.
Folgers® Iced CaféTM Coffee Drink Concentrates are available in four tasty varieties: Original Latte, Vanilla Latte, Caramel Macchiato and Hazelnut Latte. My favorite is the Vanilla Latte. And I’ve just figured out a trick: you can pre-make your iced coffee for the week using one bottle of Folgers® Iced CaféTM mixed with a half gallon of milk! And if you aren’t into dairy, no problem; you can add it to other kinds of milk, too. The best part – at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $4.99 for a concentrate that makes lots of servings, it’s much more affordable than all of those lattes I have been buying at coffee shops.
