Free Playdough Printables for Some Wild West Fun!
My kids love learning about the old west. There is something nostalgic about a time period that none of us have ever experienced. They listen to old time radio shows with wild west stories and love imagining themselves there.
These free Wild West Playdough Printables are perfect for encouraging that imagination!

This time around we chose to use playdough that had been colored with a tiny bit of brown food coloring. We used the same dough for our cookie number mats for play dough last month. It just seemed like the right choice for the desert, too!
My kids love playdough printables, so Jaida, my first grader immediately wanted to play with these.
We’ve been working on building stories with details so she told me a story to go along with her playtime:
“The cowboys were trying to go into the saloon, but their horses didn’t want to go, so they kept running away.
Luckily, the cowgirl saved the day with her lasso. She roped the horses and pulled them back to where they were supposed to go.
Then, one of the horses went up on its hind legs.
The End.”
A fantastic story for a rainy afternoon!
Extending Your Wild West Learning:
You can pair your Wild West Playdough Printables up with some Wild West books to create an afternoon of wild west fun, too!
The Magic Treehouse: Ghost Town at Sundown is part of my children’s favorite book series. All of the older kids love hearing these stories.
Or read the tall tale of Pecos Bill. Such a fun, imaginative story sure to capture the attention of little ones.
You could even put together some trail snack mix for a snack!
