Simple Sensory Play with Monster Trucks!

My kids are pretty typical kids.  If it suds and makes bubbles, they want to play with or in it.  But I’m not sure if I’m a typical mama or not.  Because when The Honest Company offered to send me some of their natural dish cleaning products to try out, I immediately though – sensory play! – not dishes.  (Actually I think that just makes me a mom that hates doing dishes!)  Check out the sensory fun we had…

A “Natural” Monster Truck Wash for Sensory Play

The Honest Company sent us everything we needed for the perfect “Natural” Monster Truck Wash.  A couple scrubber sponges (made of cellulose and walnut), a really cool bamboo dish brush (which was perfect for getting into those pesky monster truck wheels), some plant-based extra-sudsy dish soap, and organic cotton dish cloths for that fine truck detailing.

What?!  Don’t your little monster truck drivers care about natural, non-toxic ingredients?  Okay, so of course, my kids could care less.  They just worry about how big the bubbles are.  But as a mom, I loved knowing that they were safer during their sensory play.  And that our sensory play was making less of an impact on the environment was an added bonus, too.

Little J.C. was loving splishing and splashing the trucks down the ramp into the water.  Which of course is super fun, but I particularly loved watching Sawyer and Priscilla use the sponges and dish brush with such intention in their monster truck “cleaning.”  And then drying them up with the dish cloths was great fine motor practice, too.

Priscilla especially loved the fresh citrus scent of the dish soap, which added another sensory element to the play.  And I loved that the “mess” they made was at least a clean one!  Now I guess I better use it to wash some dishes, too…

I am working towards a more “natural” home environment and this company would be perfect in my endeavor to do so!

We did this too and the kids loved it! I didn’t have a ramp like that though… that may just add a whole nother layer of fun 🙂
