I know as back-to-school time comes around, many moms (like myself) are busy planning for homeschooling instead. And even if they don’t homeschool older kids, many do some early learning activities to keep the littles busy and engaged while the older ones are at school. So I thought it’d be the perfect time to round-up some easy and fun early learning ideas from The Weekly Kids Co-Op. Check ’em out…
Easy Early Learning Ideas from TheWeekly Kids Co-Op
- Fine Motor Activities – Fine motor skills are essential to early learning and school preparation. The Jenny Evolution has a bunch of fine motor activities that are fun, too!
- “Gone Fishing” Color Game – I love how this “fishing” game gives preschoolers fine motor skill while practicing color recognition.
- Outdoor Letter Hunt – Take that letter learning practice outside while the weather’s still nice!
- Letter Recognition with Rocks – Don’t forget that early learning can be reinforced simple – even with rocks! Download the free letter cards from Where Imagination Grows and give the kids some rocks to practice their letters.
- Montessori Inspired Name Recognition Activities – One of the first early literacy skills kids should work on is recognizing and then writing their NAME. Here are some easy ways to work on name recognition from Living Montessori Now.
- Simple Printable Number Matching Cards – Jornie shares some simple number matching cards that you can print and learn with right away!
- Spontaneous Tot School Activities – Many mamas who do early learning activities their toddlers call it “tot school.” Welcome to Mommyhood shares some simple set-up tot school activities if you’d like to try it.
- Romping and Roaring ABC Printables – 3 Dinosaurs shares a pack of FREE printables for learning the letter Z, and more (for purchase) for the rest of the alphabet, too.
- Uppercase Letter Tracing & Playdough Packs – Here are some free printables for working on uppercase letters – incorporating playdough, too.
- Uppercase & Lowercase Letter Matching – Matching upper- and lowercase letters is a great early learning skill, too. Dabblingmomma shares how she made a simple game for her daughter to practice matching them.
- A Fruit & Veggie Taste Test – This snack taste test (with free printable taste test chart) gets little ones thinking like scientists and examining fruits and vegetables, too.
- Lemon Scented Playdough – Don’t forget simple playdough play for hand strengthening and fine motor skill practice. Danya Banya shares a great lemon scented playdough recipe and ideas.
- Bedtime Books for Toddlers & Preschoolers – Make sure to read, read, read! Bedtime books are a perfect way to get read-aloud time in everyday with your little ones.
