I’m completely recovered from my surgery now and am feeling great. But I’m so excited that I still have a couple more Fall Fun Guest Posts to share with you. Here is a simple, but so-fun, autumn sensory activity from Adele of Playful Learners…
Little man, having just turned two, was starting to notice the changes in the outdoor environment. On the way to pick his sister up from school, he would stop to investigate large piles of leaves and collect acorns and pinecones.
We saved his collection and took them home for further exploration.
Make Cloud Dough for a Simple Sensory Activity
The children helped me put together this basic cloud dough recipe, and I then added some nutmeg and cinnamon
to make the sensory activity scented. It smelled lovely!
The children enjoyed pressing the dough into the pinecones we had picked up and then shaking them to watch it fall back out. Little man rolled the acorns through the dough, leaving prints, then covered them up and dug them up again.
What a fun way to explore Autumn nature while getting sensory input, too!

This is great idea. Simple yet interesting. I am sure kids will enjoy it, especially the young explorers who aren´t afraid to get their hands dirty. Because I too loved playing with pine cones, concers or fallen leafs when I was a kid. And even now, as an adult I still love exploring. Autumn is such a perfect season for many different activities. So thank you for the ideas, I´m definitely looking forward to trying them.
