Let’s Have Some Outdoor FUN!
I know kids don’t always need lots of toys and gadgets to have fun and to learn. But sometimes having certain things (supplies, materials, toys, etc.) can really increase the fun factor. And outdoor fun is no exception to that. So I turned to the awesome mamas of The PLAY Group to see what they’re favorite things are to use for outdoor fun. Let’s see what they said…
10 Things that Promise More Outdoor Fun from The PLAY Group
1. Sidewalk Chalk
“We love sidewalk chalk. It is so versatile and invites creativity. We like to play games like Tic Tac Toe and sight word spray.” Allison of Train Up A Child
2. A Magnifying Glass
“One of our favorite ways to play outside is to to grab our magnifying glasses and go exploring!” Bernadette of Mom to 2 Posh Lil’ Divas
3. A Portable Microscope
“We love exploring our backyard with inexpensive mini portable microscopes. My kids love pretending they are scientists and discovering things in our backyard that they never knew were there. They are viewing their regular surroundings in a whole new way.” Tammy of Housing A Forest
4. Binoculars – Real or Homemade!
“We also like to make our own binoculars and go on a nature walk around our house or neighborhood. It’s amazing what you can find when you take the time to look closely.” Bernadette of Mom to 2 Posh Lil’ Divas
5. A Kiddie Pool
“Another must have toy for us is a play pool. We love to use it for water play and sensory play. Our favorite sensory play in the pool is with a can of shaving cream.” Allison of Train Up A Child
6. A Child’s Broom
“One of our favorite outdoor items is a simple child’s broom. Not only does it encourage kids to clean up the yard, but we love playing games with it as well.” Vicky of Mess for Less
7. Bubbles
“One of our favorite ways to play outside is with bubbles. We love making and testing our own bubble solutions!” Genny of In Lieu of Preschool
8. Scooters or Bikes
“Another way we like to play is with scooter boards on our driveway like the time we made a sidewalk chalk track and the kids practiced maneuvering using cones.” Genny of In Lieu of Preschool
9. A Sand Box
“My kids couldn’t possible live without a sand box or dirt pile of some kind. It offers endless hours of pushing, scraping, digging, and is great sensory play. I know when I was a kid we were happy with a huge pile of dirt dumped next to the barn, but my kids are really loving the new sand and water table they got as an Easter gift.” Krissy of B-Inspired Mama
10. Digging Tools
“And who can have a sand box or dirt pile without some digging tools, right? We’ve got a whole assortment of scoops, shovels, and dump tricks. But our new favorite is our ALEX Toys Digger.” Krissy of B-Inspired Mama
More Outdoor Fun with ALEX Toys
I was so excited to see that ALEX Toys now offers a sit upon steel excavator for home outdoor play. The kids have loved playing with them at campgrounds and playgrounds, but I never imagined it was something we could have at home. So I was even more thrilled when ALEX Toys offered to send us one to try out.
My kids love their Super Sand Digger. Cliff was impressed that it was simple to put together. And I love how it can be easily moved from place to place. (Except when the kids move it to dig in the flower beds; Don’t really love that!)
AND… You can WIN ONE for your kids! Yep, ALEX Toys has offered one Super Sand Digger to one lucky reader. Enter here…
