A Simple Fathers Day Craft for Kids
Father’s Day is fast approaching, so I thought I’d share a fun Fathers Day craft for kids to make for Dad or Grandpa. This is what Engineer made for his Papa, my Dad.
Nuts & Bolts Frame Fathers Day Craft for Kids
Have child paint the 4 popsicle sticks. We used acrylic paint, but tempera paint would work as well.
After the paint is dry, glue the popsicle sticks into a frame.
Once the frame is dry, have child choose which nuts and/or bolts to use as the frame’s decoration. I would suggest using a small handful, as too many could weigh the frame down.
Have your child glue the nuts and bolts to the frame. I used craft glue, but a hot glue gun would work too.
While waiting for everything to dry, decide what will go inside the frame. Engineer really wanted to write a note to his papa, and I wasn’t going to discourage that!
Glue the note to a piece of cardboard. This will keep the note sturdy
Attach the note to the back of the frame, making sure everything’s centered.
Be sure to write the child’s name and the year on the back of the frame!
Rather than a note, include a picture of the child. For my preschool students, I’m going to take a picture of them holding a sign that says, “I love you!” on it. That picture will go inside the handmade frame.
If the dad or grandpa in question isn’t into building, choose different items to attach to the frame. Have your child help decide what should be placed on there.
Add magnetic tape to the back of the frame. This way, it can be proudly displayed on the fridge!

Isn’t Mary Catherine brilliant?! This Fathers Day craft for kids to make is simple enough for all ages, but turns out so cool for Dad. I know my Mr. Fix It man would LOVE this for a homemade Fathers Day gift and my little Mr. Fix It Sawyer would get such a kick out of making it for him.
