Add 1 hook and loop dot to the end of one stick. Add 2 hook and loop dots to the end of a second stick. Add 3 to the end of a third stick. Continue, adding one more to each new stick until you have 5 sticks.
Have your child help add a number sticker, corresponding with the number of hook and loop dots, onto the other end of each stick.
Store all Counting Sticks and pom-poms in a gallon-size food storage bag.
Ways to Play & Learn:
Count pom-poms while sticking one on each hook and loop dot.
Arrange sticks in number order.
Make patterns on a stick using different color pom-poms.
Use sticks for simple math addition: Place 2 sticks next to one another, then add pom-poms and count to see what the two number sticks add up to.
Practice listening skills and number identification: Call out a number for the child to find its corresponding Counting Stick.
Close your eyes and feel the dots on the sticks to identify each stick's number.
