How Do You Promote Preschool Early Learning at Home?
Do you send your kids to a group preschool or homeschool preschool? We’ve tried both, but since starting 2nd grade homeschooling with Sawyer in January, Priscilla has been doing her preschool at home, too. And we’re loving all of the time we get to spend together. Our home preschool routine is pretty eclectic and laid back. Priscilla learns and plays along with Sawyer mostly. But I was recently given the opportunity to try the new Embark¹² Comprehensive Preschool Program, and it’s been great to use as the basis for some more structured early learning for Priscilla. Check it out…
Early Learning Fun with EmbarK¹²
K¹² – a leader in K through 12 online education – has recently created EmbarK12 Comprehensive- Online and hands-on preschool program for your early learner. The comprehensive program has over 1200 early learning activities that range from online fun to hands-on activities. And what makes it so comprehensive is it has 18 thematic units covering 6 subjects: Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Music, and Art.
Priscilla recently had fun using EmbarK¹² to learn about the senses. I loved that I could make a playlist for her ahead of time, so she could get started with the interactive online activities independently while I worked one-on-one with Sawyer for a bit…
It included videos, e-books, learning games, and even music with dancing. Singing and dancing to Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes was a fun way to explore the parts of the body that sense our world.
Of course it was actually hard to keep Sawyer focused on his own homeschooling while Priscilla was having so much fun with EmbarK¹².
After Priscilla was done with the online activities I had “assigned” to her playlist, she started her hands-on early learning about the senses. I already had everything she needed, since the hands-on materials were delivered right to our door. Everything we needed for the entire EmbarK¹² Comprehensive Program in one box: 19 books of classic children’s literature and 18 unique manipulatives and learning tools like bear counters, a magnifying glass, and beach ball globe (to name just a few!). First, we snuggled on the couch with the My Five Senses book. Then Priscilla worked on the Five Senses section in her All About Me Book.
The EmbarK¹² Preschool Program comes in just an Online Version or the Comrehensive Program that we used (with all of the awesome hands-on books, tools, and manipulatives). But both programs have an awesome teacher’s guide with detailed lessons, extensions, and ideas for use in a group setting, too. Which makes this the perfect program for early learning at home or in a preschool setting.

I’m a 10 year veteran teacher, certified P-6. As both an educator and Mommy to a 2.5 year old, I have searched everywhere for something to catch my interest for working with my angel. I’ve been very disappointed with every option I have researched but this system looks so different!
