More Mama Reads for Your Mama Time…
How was your week? If you’ve been following along here at B-Inspired Mama, you know that ours was so busy I didn’t even have time to get a “Mama Reads” up last week! I worked and worked so we could go on a weekend getaway to Rochester for Clifford’s mother’s wedding. It was so sweet. And we visited the National Museum of Play while we were there; AWESOME! It was so fun. I highly recommend it if you get to the Northeast sometime.
Have a busy week coming up? (I know, I know… what mama doesn’t?!) Need some encouragement or just something to read in your downtime? Here are my favorite “Mama Reads” for you…
My Favorite “Mama Reads” This Week:
- What if I Quit Being a Mom – Don’t let the title fool you. This is a must-read.
“What if you quit being a mom that measured you with expectations meant to measure a hypothetical super mom and just began to love you for you?”
- I Wanted to Raise a Scientist, Not a Disney Princess – Oh this is SO me. I needed to read this. I love, love, love it!
“We all want our daughters to succeed. We don’t want to narrow their opportunities. But I realized that day over graham crackers with my daughter that by dissuading her from enjoying ‘girly’ things in favor of more ‘scientific’ things, I was perpetuating the myth that the two are mutually exclusive.”
- Let the Kids be Loud! – I can so relate to this. My kids have helped me to learn what “good kids” look like, and it’s not at all what I thought before I was a parent. *wink*
“Kids who are a little boisterous, loud, giggly, and a tad wild while out and about don’t make our kids hellions or heathens who have no rules because their parents are too lax (and therefore lousy parents). We do have rules for our children. But one of those rules is not that they can only be seen and not heard.”
- How to be a Positive Mom during Hard Times – We all go through “hard times”. And that means something different to each of us. I love these specific tips to help.
“A problem shared is a problem halved. Sometimes all we need to get calm and feel in control of crazy situations, is a bit of objectivity and a partner to plan a solution with.”
Note – I have decided to change Mama Reads to just a weekly feature, without the link party at the bottom. But I’d still love to read your words and hear from you! If you have an encouraging or inspiring blog post to share, feel free to post it any day on B-Inspired Mama’s facebook wall.
How do you find encouragement and inspiration during your busy days, Mama? Do these “Mama Reads” help? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
