Some Mama Reads for Your Mom Time…
How was your week? Did you get any time to yourself for some reading? I hope so! I fit my mama reading time in when J.C. and I snuggle on the couch or while I wait in the doctor’s office or at night before drifting off. When do you like to read?
Have a busy week coming up? (I know, I know… what mama doesn’t?!) Need some encouragement or just something to read in your downtime? Here are my favorite “Mama Reads” for you…
This Week’s “Mama Reads”:
- Real Life & Instagram – So so true!
“As you get on Instagram and other social media today and this week, I encourage you to remember you are only seeing a small window of someone’s life. Real life cannot be shared in a little square photo with filters. Real life is everything else surrounding that square.”
- The Image of Perfection: How Comparison Ruins Good Parents – Are you sensing a theme here? Love the tips in this post for avoiding the comparison trap.
“Rephrase your self-talk. Rather than criticizing yourself for not measuring up, change the way you talk to yourself. ‘I do not need to bake homemade cookies to show my son that I love him. I do that every day by giving him a hug, talking with him, and spending time together.’”
- What Children Teach Us About Life – I’ve always said that my children teach me more than I teach them!
“…all of those moments where you are checking yourself, regulating, taking a breath– those are your lessons and your chances to grow. That is not to say we handle those trying situations perfectly (I sure don’t!). But, that we try to reflect on them and try to learn from them. Instead of questioning the way we handle situations (and feeling guilty), what if we looked at those moments as our children showing us where we need to grow, as our children raising us up. What a gift that would be.”
- To The Mom Who Feels Life She Never Gets Enough Done – This is me. Every day. I love, love, love this perspective.
“Our society has made an idol of getting things done, making that our top cultural priority. But instead of asking ‘Am I doing enough?,’ why not ask ‘Am I doing what’s mine?'”
How do you find encouragement and inspiration during your busy days, Mama? Do these “Mama Reads” help? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
