Using the Computer for Some Kids Language Learning Exploration!
What are your thoughts on kids language learning? As Leanna (of All Done Monkey) stated in her guest post, How to Teach a Child a Second Language…
“While some still argue about the benefits of teaching a child a second language, most parents today agree that exposure to a second language helps their child academically, socially, and economically. More fundamentally, it is central to raising a child who is a world citizen.”
I have to admit; while kids language learning makes complete sense to me, it also seems really overwhelming and nearly unattainable. So I was really excited when Chatterfun asked me to give their kids language learning software a try.
Encouraging Kids Language Learning and Exploration with Chatterfun
This is what I’m loving about Chatterfun…
“We at Chatterfun Media promise that your child will not become highly fluent in four languages through using our software but what your child will learn is most amazing! Chatterfun promises:
- Educational software can be fun and entertaining.
- You will find a language that you love and want to explore further.
- As you use the software, you will begin to discover many different cultures and languages while learning how to say and understand basic words.
- You will be much better prepared to start a formal language training program and be much more likely to be successful at the long-term commitment of learning a foreign language.”
I love that it is a simple way to expose my kids to four different languages (English, Spanish, German, and French) without pressure or a huge investment. My kids loved it and even use it to practice their English spelling and reading skills, too.
Chatterfun offers two different options in kids language learning software: ABC’s with Elly for the youngest learners and Spelling Bee Interactive for the more advanced. They can be purchased individually or in a bundle. And I’m so excited to announce that Chatterfun has offered an exclusive 50% discount for one week only (ending August 14th, 2013) to B-Inspired Mama readers on non-sale items. Just enter the coupon code “binspiredmama” when making your purchase at http://chatterfun.com/shop/.

I have never used anything like this but it seems like it would be an awesome tool to use. In today’s society, you almost have to have a 2nd language to survive.

I sure wish I had paid more attention during my high school and college language classes!

I have never used a program to try to teach my son a language. I would love the opportunity to try Chatterfun so that my son can learn Spanish and this program looks like it could keep the attention of children while teaching them a second language.

I think it is a wonderful idea to teach children a second language. They are sponges at an early age and will “soak’ it up 🙂 I haven’t used a program on my children yet. I am currently trying to teach myself Spanish. I would love to use Chatterfun because it looks like it uses a lot of visuals 🙂

I was pretty impressed with it. Simple, but the kids loved it.
