20 days, 16 hours, 8 minutes, and 24 seconds until the last of my 3, my sweet J.C., goes off to Kindergarten.
But who’s counting? Okay, yes, I’m counting — and crying…
I’m counting down these last precious summer days of pushing his swing higher and higher, wiping sidewalk chalk smudges off little hands and cheeks, and watching all three run through the sprinkler.
And lots and lots of sweet dripping Popsicles licked by colorful kids’ tongues! These moments in the warm summer sunshine are the ones I want to freeze in time.

But those memories are so fleeting. Especially as I’m getting older — and more tired. Filling Out Your Time Capsule Questionnaire:
This summer time capsule worksheet is designed for kids of all ages to capture their summer vacation memories. It’s perfect for kids to fill out at home on the last day of summer break. Or, teachers can hand out summer time capsule worksheets on the first day of school for a classroom icebreaker. Just have students fill in their summer break memories at the beginning of the school year. Then, have them share their answers with the class before sealing their summer time capsules up.
The time capsule questionnaire includes a spot for kids to draw a picture of themselves. Or, they can paste an actual photo of themselves, if desired.
And there’s also a spot for kids to draw their favorite summer memory, too. For elementary grade or high school students, you could have them write about their summer memory in that spot instead, if you’d like them to get writing practice.
Then, there’s a fill-in-the-blank list of favorites for kids to complete. Favorites category blanks include: book, outdoor activity, toy, animal, person, TV show, movie, sport, and trip.
Assembling Your Summer Time Capsule:
We rolled our summer time capsule sheet up and slid it inside a recycled 2-liter plastic soda bottle. You can put summer time capsule sheets inside any time capsule container, like mason jars, shoe boxes, or envelopes.
These time capsule printables can be stored as is, but you could have kids add other memories and keepsakes too. Fun ideas include newspaper clippings, favorite quotes, movie tickets, a handprint, and photographs.
Finally, store them away until the last day of school. Get them out and review them before heading off on another summer break!
You could even have kids fill out a new summer time capsule form each year and keep adding them to the same time capsule container. Then, give them their time capsule full of summer memories as a gift for high school graduation.
