A Recycled Craft for Earth Day
I hate to see all of those cool shaped recyclables go to waste, don’t you? I mean, I’m always thinking… “That creamer container would make the perfect doll body…” and “We’ve gotta make that milk carton into a house!” And since Earth Day is coming up I wanted to do a recycled craft with the kids, so what better time to transform them, right? Here’s what we did…
Simple Chalkboard Toys Recycled Craft
Supplies:
- various clean, dry recyclables
- black chalkboard paint
- colorful chalk
Steps:
- Make sure recyclables are clean, dry, and free of labels.
- Paint recyclables with chalkboard paint and let dry. (I used spray paint, but you can also get brushable chalkboard paint if you prefer.)
- Let the kids transform them with some colorful chalk! PLAY!
Have you ever made any recycled crafts with the kids? I’d love to hear about it in the comment below!

I love this idea!!
What did you use to make the long rectangle one? Do these hold up after multiple uses? Thanks! 🙂
Krissy @ B-InspiredMama says
The long rectangle is a milk carton on its side. They’ve been holding up to my kids pretty good. I thought the paint might flake off, but it seems like it’s on there pretty good.
