Hand Print Flower Apron for Mom
With all of the cooking and baking the kids and I have been doing, you’d be surprised to learn that I don’t even have an apron. So I thought Mother’s Day was the perfect time to get one. And we made it extra special with hand print flowers from each of my little ones! Here’s how to make your own hand print flower apron…
Hand Print Flower Apron Kids Craft
Supplies:
- blank canvas apron
- permanent marker
- freezer paper
- scissors
- fabric paint
- paint brush
- sweet little hands
Steps:
- Cut a piece of freezer paper the width of your apron.
- Use a permanent marker to draw the grass line, stems (one for each child’s hand), and leaves.
- Cut along the drawn line and keep background.
- Iron the freezer paper background onto the bottom of the apron.
- Paint with green fabric paint and let dry.
- Peel the freezer paper off of the apron to reveal the grass and flower stems.
- Paint the children’s hands with fabric paint and let them press down onto the apron to print the flowers.
- Don’t forget to wear it when you make Mother’s Day breakfast and dinner!
ETA: After scheduling this post, I came across this awesome example of a hand print apron from Little Page Turners. It is hand-painted and so well done. Be sure to check it out!
Do you wear an apron when you cook? Wouldn’t you love a hand print flower apron like this from your kids?!

Oh Chrissy this is just brilliant! I love the use of the freezer paper. I have not yet used freezer paper for crafting but I have had it on the list for like a year! Where did you find the blank canvas aprons? Anywhere that is a chain store? I know I could sew up my own but I am crunched for time! Thanks again for the wonderful idea. I am planning to make this with my son for his grandma (and one for me for Mother's Day, because hey! who else is going to make a cool craft like this with my son and give it to me!? No one! besides me! Such is life! Sigh…:) Take care! and happy Mother's Day!

Great idea! why do you need to use the freezer paper? can't you just paint onto the fabric directly?
Krissy Sherman Bonning says
Yes, you totally can just paint directly on the apron. But the freezer paper stencil makes it a little more easy/successful for even the littlest kids to be able to paint it and have it still look like grass, stems, and leaves. But it would be awesome to just give them paintbrushes and let them have at it, too!
Carolyn @ Mama's Little Muse says
I have to say when I first saw this pictured on Pinterest, I thought to myself…cute but my son could never paint the stems and leaves as well as that. I almost didn't consider it because I thought it was free form painting and, well, in this case I would like the end-result be somewhat aesthetically pleasing. I love the freezer paper stencil idea, that way my son can feel very involved in the painting of the leaves and stems and I won't have to be trying to direct him or even wind up doing it myself! I guess for older kids free form painting might do, but this way is just perfect for my kid! (4 years old)
