Apple Spice Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Apple Juicy Juice® 100% Juice
- 3/4 cup sliced dried apples, coarsely chopped
- 1 box (18.25 ounces) spice cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 3 large eggs
- 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 container (16 ounces) prepared vanilla, white or cream cheese frosting
Servings per Recipe: 15
Steps:
Have your little one help crush up the dried apples into small-ish pieces.
Then add the apples and the Juicy Juice® into a small saucepan. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium and cook for 15 to 17 minutes or until juice has evaporated. Let cool to room temperature while you prepare the cake batter.
Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease and lightly flour 13-x-9-inch baking pan. (We used a little bit of the cake mix to flour our pan!)
Combine cake mix, water, eggs and applesauce in a large mixer bowl. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes.
Fold in apples, and pour into prepared pan.
Pop in the oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
Stir cinnamon into frosting and spread over cake. ENJOY!
What Makes This Spice Cake Recipe So Awesome?
Juicy Juice®! As I mentioned earlier, Juicy Juice® has always been our favorite brand of juice. I love that it has no sugar added and 8 oz of Juicy Juice® 100% juice = 1 cup of fruit. And the kids love the variety of flavors (16 in all) and sizes (especially the juice boxes).
But I honestly hadn’t thought about using it in recipes. So I’m super excited about this new revelation because this Apple Spice Cake Recipe was delicious!
