Child Potty Training
Potty training is probably one of the most challenging parenting tasks we as moms will face. There are so many different child potty training techniques and theories to choose from that it can make a mama’s head spin. As with every parenting situation, some things work for some children and families and some things just don’t. Here are 4 popular potty training techniques that real moms use to help you decide what might work best for you.
4 Popular Child Potty Training Techniques
1. The Potty Training Reward Chart – When Sara of Mom Endeavors had trouble with her potty training child, she found success with the popular reward chart method. “He wanted to make a poopy chart–complete with drawing poop every time he went (ah, life with boys!) and so we did! He loved it (finally)!”
2. The Naked Time Technique – The Monko of Taming the Goblin found her child potty training success with some naked time. “As the weather got warmer I started giving Goblin nappy free time throughout the day. I explained that if he wasn’t wearing a nappy and he needed a wee or a poo he had to use the loo.”
3. The Potty Training Books & DVDs Technique – Laura of Play Dr. Mom used this technique to prepare her daughter for potty training. “We read lots of books on potty training. We also watched 2 DVDs on potty training. Her favorite potty training DVD was POTTY POWER. I highly recommend this DVD for any child that is developmentally ready for potty training. POTTY POWER is especially wonderful for little girls that love princesses (like my own Princess Honor) because within the DVD is a video vignette of a Princess who learns to use the potty. The other DVD we watched was Elmo’s Potty Time … which is also very fun and a great resource.”
4. The Potty Party Technique – My oldest son was especially difficult to potty train, but one technique I used was to throw him a potty party. After a particularly successful day of potty training we had a big party with balloons and cake and everything to celebrate. He was so proud of himself.
Child Potty Training with Pull-Ups
Recently I was sent an awesome package from Pull-Ups with everything needed for child potty training success: Pull-Ups, Big Kid Flushable Wipes, and a First Flush Celebration Kit to make every flush a celebration. My little J.C. isn’t quite ready to potty train (and one thing I’ve learned from potty training two kids already is that they MUST be ready), but I’m so excited to have these awesome resources from Pull-Ups to utilize when he is. I especially love their free interactive Big Kids App that features calls from favorite Disney characters, fun timers, electronic reward charts, videos, tips, and more!
I’m so excited that Pull-Ups has offered to giveaway a Pull-Ups Big Kid Potty Training Kit for one of you, too! It will include a 2 month supply of Pull-Ups, Wipes, and Potty Training Celebration Pack. Enter here…
