So Why Are Bees Important Anyway?
Earth Day is coming up (April 22nd), and my blogging mama friend over at ALLterNATIVElearning is doing an awesome series for Earth Day this year, The Ultimate Earth Day Education Guide. I was thrilled to be invited to participate and take on the Earth Day learning challenge with my kids.
You know, when it comes to Earth Day, I see Earth Day activities and recycled art project ideas on Pinterest and on my favorite blogs.
But – to be honest – it hadn’t even occurred to me that learning about bees would be an Earth Day topic. But alas, those bees and their little pollinating legs are so so important to our entire ecosystem. And we’ve learned that their very existence is being threatened by toxin chemicals and pesticides in our environment.
Makes for some pretty important learning for the kids, I’d say!
Head on over to ALLterNATIVElearning to see how we explored the importance of bees one afternoon. (And make sure to check out all of the other great Earth Day ideas in the series, too!)
