When Was Your Last Moms Night Out?
I don’t think I need to tell you all about the importance of mom time. I’m sure you mamas are deep in the trenches of parenting stress like am and know all too well how needed that occasional mama time can be. (Can you say, “Preachin’ to the Choir?!”) Last week I got to go on a fun moms night out courtesy of Outback Steakhouse. Honestly, it was the ULTIMATE moms night out as far as I am concerned. Complete with a bloomin’ onion, country music concert, quality time with my cousin Sarah, and a Meet & Greet with THE Tim McGraw. (And YES, he was just a friendly – and HOT – in person as you would expect!) Here’s some highlights…
No, my typical moms night out isn’t quite so extravagant. And it doesn’t really matter. It’s about having that break, that time with other moms who can relate, that time to recharge. I thought it’d be fun to hear from some mom friends about their moms night out memories. Here’s what they shared…
Thoughts on Moms Night Out from REAL Moms
Chatting Over Dinner
“My favorite mom’s night out usually involve making plans to go to dinner and a movie, only to spend so much time chatting over dinner that we don’t make it to the movie. Who need a movie when you have great conversation with your good friends?” Jen of Kitchen Counter Chronicles
M.N.O. at The Brewery
“[I] am doing a Moms Night Out tonight for the first time in awhile! I’m excited, though as a friend and I are going to the new local brewery that just opened.” Jennifer of The Good Long Road
A Mother/Daughter Moms Night Out
“My mom and I [had] a night out. Spa, dinner and hotel stay! Pampered, TWO meals without having to shove food into someone else’s mouth AND a blissful night’s sleep in a quiet, comfortable room. Just what this momma needed!” Laura of LalyMom
Support During a Difficult Time
“My most memorable Mom’s night Out was the birthday after I’d separated from my ex-husband. I belonged to a wonderful moms’ group called Mothers & More, and the ladies went out of their way to make sure I had a blast! Such a supportive (and FUN) group of ladies led to an awesome birthday party in the midst of a difficult time.” Mary Catherine of Fun-A-Day!
Wine & Painting
“My favorite Moms Night Out was to a paint bar where you drank wine, had appetizers, learned how to paint a masterpiece! I just went the other night for my birthday. What made it even better was that the little guy was so good at home with Daddy and slept through the night, so I was able to go home and sleep too!” Blayne of House of Burke
Just Having a BREAK!
“What makes a Mom’s Night Out special to me is having a break…a break from cooking, a break from putting children to bed, and a break from being depended upon. Having a nice meal, a glass of wine, adult conversation, and time with girlfriends rejuvenates my soul.” Allison of The House of Hendrix
Painting for Charity
“My mom friend and I joined some other moms at an evening painting class. It was for charity and pizza and wine were included. The wine really helped us lose our inhibitions about the painting – and everyone had a good time. Great to do something different AND we had new artwork on canvas to show for it!” George of Craftulate
The Last Hurrah Before Baby
“Most memorable night for me has been to take a friend out for their last night out before they have a baby! Mom’s night out are a way to hit that reset button to find you again without the kids, without the chores or errands, and even without your hubby… just you!” Kim of The Educators’ Spin On It
Moms Night Out with the Moms Group
“I love Mom’s Nights outs and did them frequently with my MOPS and MOMSnext groups. I think they’re essential to sane parenting (at least for me). I’ve played Bunco, made crafts, met at restaurants, etc. They are wonderful!” Kristen of Busy Kids = Happy Mom
A Mani/Pedi Party
“I’ve had several memorable nights out with my moms group that I’ve been with for 7 years, so it’s hard to choose one night. But some of my favorites were at someone’s house. We’ve had a wine tasting party, Minute to Win It (game show) party, and a canvas and wine party (an artist came to the house to show us how to create our own paintings). Outing wise, I really enjoyed the night we asked a nail salon to stay open past their hours just for our mom’s group. We were able to bring in wine and snacks while we all got manicures and pedicures.” Akane of Juggling with Kids
