Kids’ Fall Book Craft [Guest Post from Kitchen Counter Chronicles]
Kids’ Fall Book Craft
We love the fall. In fact, it might just be our favorite season. Where we live fall days are filled with bright, colorful trees and crisp, cool weather. One of our favorite things to do in the fall is visit the pumpkin patch. This year we went to a new pumpkin patch and the kids loved it. We hopped on a hay ride through the corn fields, took a walk through a forest and ended up at the pumpkin patch. Quite the adventure. We were so inspired by our trip to pick out our pumpkin that when we returned home we started working on a few pumpkin and fall related activities.

The first project to come out of our trip was a book. My youngest daughter loves to make books these days. So, when I set out piles of felt, paper, markers and leaves, I was not surprised when she transformed these simple craft supplies into a book.

The cover of the book is a multimedia piece of art. She used felt to make the pile of straw, acorns and cloth make up the pumpkin and finally a pile of felt leaves complete the picture.

Based on this picture, my daughter wrote a story about a girl, Lily, who was spending a wonderful day playing outside in the fall.
After my daughter was done creating her book we then gathered up a few of our favorite fall books and sat down together to read. Our favorite fall books include…
“Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf” by Lois Ehlert
“The Berenstain Bears Prize Pumpkin” by Stan and Jan Berenstain
What are your children’s favorite fall books? Do you read the same books every fall or do you explore new books?
In her “previous life” Jen was a mental health professional…in her current life she’s a stay-at-home mom with 2 beautifully adventurous kids. She share everything that lands on her kitchen counter over at, Kitchen Counter Chronicles. Swing by and learn how they are greening their lives; what they are crafting; what they are cooking and what they are reading. While you will often find the girls and Jen inside the kitchen, you will also find them out and about getting their hands dirty, exploring and learning outdoors.

What a wonderful idea! How did you make your image “creating a book…” I see all of these neat pictures on pinterest and wonder how others are doing it.
I didn’t create this particular one, but I use picmonkey.com to create mine and edit photos.
They did awesome.
